Cilla Black, British icon female singer of the 60s and 70s passed away at aged 72

An all-round British entertainer from Liverpool, Cilla Black the British female singer of the 60s and 70s has passed away at aged 72 yesterday at her home in Marbella, Spain.

 
 

Born and named Priscilla Maria Veronica White before changing to stage name, Cilla Black has released 20 consecutive Top 40 singles, including 11 British Top Ten hits and two consecutive Number One singles, before turning herself into one of Britain's most iconic TV presenter.

Her first single Love of the Loved, written for her by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, was not a success.
 
The second single, a composition by Burt Bacharach and Hal David Anyone Who Had A Heart, became the biggest-selling single by a female artist in the history of British pop music. Cilla Black became a household name and the English music scene icon from here on.

“Cilla”, a three-part British drama television series by ITV was about the early career of Cilla Black which has not made it to Malaysia TV channels. It was broadcast in 15 September 2014 with Sheridan Smith playing the starring role.
